Last updated: May 2, 2026
Dermela is for education and mole-change tracking only. It is not medical advice, does not diagnose skin cancer, melanoma, or any other medical condition, and does not replace an exam by a licensed clinician. If a spot is new, changing, bleeding, painful, itchy, or concerning, contact a dermatologist or another qualified healthcare professional promptly. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call emergency services.
Use Dermela as a tracking aid
Dermela is intended to help people create a more organized record of visible mole and skin changes. It can support education, reminders, photo comparison, and preparation for a medical visit, but it cannot determine whether a lesion is cancerous or benign.
When to seek medical care
Contact a dermatologist or another qualified healthcare professional if a mole is new, changing, bleeding, painful, persistently itchy, rapidly growing, looks different from your other moles, or simply worries you. If you believe you may have a medical emergency, call emergency services.
Limits of photo-based tracking
Photos can be affected by lighting, focus, camera distance, skin tone, hair, glare, and body position. A normal-looking photo does not rule out disease, and a concerning-looking photo does not establish a diagnosis. Medical decisions should be made with a licensed clinician.
